Mary Jane “M. J.” Ranz of Cincinnati has won USSSA World Championships over the span of three different decades, including the 1979 Youth World with Sweeney Chevrolet, the 1985 Women’s A World with Northside K of C, and the 2000, 2002, and 2004 Women’s World Series with Kinder Sharks. Ranz has also played on two World Series runner-up teams, including Empress Chili in1995 and Kinder Sharks in 2001. In 2002 she was named World Series MVP, and later that year received the deBeer-USSSA “Sportswoman of the Year” award. She also won a 35-over World with Ty-1-On in 2004. Ranz has been a perennial Greater Cincinnati All-City selection, was the Greater Cincinnati “Player of the Year” in 1995, has been named to nine All-World teams. She was named to the Greater Cincinnati All-Century team in 2000, and was an ASA All-American in 2001. She has been selected to 26 All-Tournament teams at USSSA National Invitational Tournaments over the last fifteen years, and was named Most Valuable Player in four of those.
